Ostle & Maillard created a bespoke rigid box for a dental implant instrument and its accessories, made from 2000 micron board with a black linen-effect covering, two-colour foil blocking, a printed interior and an internal fitment shaped around each component.
Specialist dental instruments are precise, valuable and often supplied as a kit. A stock box with a generic insert lets parts shift in transit and makes the product look like an afterthought. Bespoke packaging starts from the product instead, so the box protects what is inside, keeps every piece in order and presents it the way the manufacturer intends.

Bespoke Dental Packaging for Specialist Products
The brief was a presentation box that would protect a dental implant instrument, keep every accessory organised and look professional the moment it was opened.
Designed Around a Dental Instrument
The box was developed for a UK dental products manufacturer to hold one specialist instrument alongside its accessories. Rather than adapting an existing box, Ostle & Maillard sized the packaging around the instrument itself, so the outer dimensions, the depth and the layout inside all follow the product.
Protection, Presentation and Practicality
The packaging had three jobs to do at once:
- Protection: hold the instrument and accessories securely in transit and in storage.
- Presentation: give the end user a premium first impression of the product.
- Practicality: make each component easy to find, remove and return to the box.
Premium Materials and Finishes
The box is built from 2000 micron board, a rigid construction that holds its shape, and finished with a black linen-effect covering, two-colour foil blocking and a single-colour printed interior.
Strong 2000 Micron Board
At 2000 microns (2mm) the board gives a rigid box that will not flex or crush in normal handling. That strength protects the instrument and keeps the box looking crisp after repeated opening, which matters for a product that may be stored and used many times.
Black Linen-Effect Covering
The board is wrapped in a black linen-effect material with a subtle woven texture. It looks understated, feels substantial in the hand and hides the marks that a smooth black finish would show.
Two-Colour Foil Blocking
The branding is applied with foil blocking in two colours, pressed into the covering with heat. Foil catches the light against the dark linen, so the brand reads clearly without needing a printed panel.
Printed Interior
Inside, a single-colour printed finish carries the design through from the outside, so the moment the lid lifts feels as considered as the box itself.
Bespoke Internal Fitment
Instead of a standard insert, Ostle & Maillard designed the internal fitment around the exact shape of each dental component, so every item has its own position and cannot move against the others.
Every Component Has Its Place
The fitment is cut with a separate recess for the instrument and for each accessory. Nothing is loose, nothing overlaps, and a missing piece is obvious at a glance. For clinicians, that means less time searching and more confidence that the kit is complete.
Designed for Protection and Presentation
A close-fitting recess stops components knocking together in transit, which protects precision parts from scratches and damage. It also turns opening the box into a clear, ordered reveal: each item sits where the eye expects it, presented as carefully as it was made.
Why Choose Bespoke Dental Packaging?
Bespoke dental packaging does four jobs a stock box cannot: it protects the product, presents it professionally, organises every component and carries the manufacturer's brand.
Protection
Designed around the product, so instruments and accessories stay secure from dispatch to clinic.
Presentation
Premium materials and finishes give a professional first impression the moment the box is opened.
Organisation
A bespoke fitment gives every component its own position, so the kit is easy to check and use.

Foil blocking, print and specialist finishes put your brand on the product your customers handle every day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is bespoke dental packaging?
Bespoke dental packaging is a box and internal fitment made to the exact dimensions of a specific dental instrument or kit, rather than a stock box with a generic insert. Because it is designed around the product, each component is held securely and presented clearly. It can also carry the manufacturer's branding through print and specialist finishes.
Can dental packaging be designed around individual instruments?
Yes: Ostle & Maillard designs internal fitments around individual dental instruments and their accessories, so every component has its own position in the box. On this project the fitment was shaped around a dental implant instrument and each accessory supplied with it, which stops parts moving and makes the kit easy to check.
Can you manufacture rigid boxes for dental products?
Yes: Ostle & Maillard of Harrogate, North Yorkshire produces rigid boxes for dental products, including the 2000 micron board box with a black linen-effect covering shown here. Rigid construction holds its shape, protects the contents and suits products that are stored and reopened many times.
Can bespoke internal fitments be created?
Yes: Ostle & Maillard creates internal fitments shaped around the individual components of a product, which reduces movement in transit and makes each item easy to identify when the box is opened. Fitments can be made in a range of materials to suit the weight and shape of the contents.
What finishes are available for bespoke packaging?
Ostle & Maillard offers finishes including linen-effect and textured coverings, foil blocking in one or more colours and printed interiors, as used on this dental box. The right combination depends on the product, the brand and the budget.
